Kimball Art Museum: Where Michelangelo Meets Texas

Edvard Munch
From ancient Thailand
From Pakistan
From Japan
Sculpture by Bernini in terra cotta

Card Sharps by Caravaggio
Amazing detail in every texture: note the faux frame within the painting.
The only Michaelangelo painting in the Western Hemisphere resides in Ft. Worth's Kimball Art Museum. Michaelangelo painted Saint Anthony being tormented by demons. It was painted in both tempera and oil and is in excellent condition. The Kimballs, of oil money, collected widely:  High Italian Renaissance and ancient Asian pieces as well as a smattering of Post-Impressionists and Matisse.  The collection includes a Picasso. Strictly high ticket art is in this stunning building designed by the famous architect Louis Kahn.

Fort Worth Botanical Garden

Fort Worth, Texas, has a lot going for it. I am a huge fan of its sprawling botanical garden.
