Woolly's current production of Marie Antoinette stretches one's expectations with non-traditional casting, modern garb, a sheep in wolf's clothing, and a loose interpretation of history.

 Audience participation includes posing in a guillotine, and  playing beanbag toss with decapitated Barbies and Kens. I would have enjoyed a slice of cake, instead!!

Alexandria Freedmen's Cemetery Memorial

When the Woodrow Wilson Bridge over the Potomac River was expanded, an old office building and a Mobil station were demolished and excavated. Surprisingly,  a cemetary lay beneath, abandoned before 1900. Freed slaves and people of color were buried there after the civil war. Many were children who died in the first seven days of life. 

The dead are now honored properly with a lovely sculpture and the names of the dead, their cause of death, and age of death, which were gleaned from old city records. 

This memorial is at the corner of South Washington Street and Green Street, in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia.
