The Night-Blooming Cereus is highly valued in the Far East, especially in Thailand and Burma. |
The night-blooming cereus takes awhile to bloom, but suddenly sprouts a bud, which opens and glows with promise for one day only. How fleeting is its beauty.
It unfurls, then shrivels in the warmth of daylight.
I have gone outside with a flashlight to view and inhale its fabulous aroma many times, in my back yard.
The life of a gardener: we care for our plants all year long just to see that quick moment of incredible beauty. It is all very much worth it.
Your imaginary Friend,
Patsie
