The Gardens of Hampton Court

Many moons ago, Cardinal Woolsey built himself a palace. When he got into trouble with Henry the Eighth for his failure to broker an annulment for The King, he offered his palace, Hampton Court, as a peace offering. King Henry the Eighth grabbed it. He then created the Anglican Church and made himself the head.

Later on, King William of Orange built a more modern addition onto the back, as well as a splendid formal garden covering many acres.
