How nice is Brad Pitt? REALLY nice. He built this and many other modern new homes in the Hurricane Katrina-ravaged area of New Orleans, the lower ninth ward.

The house is sustainable and has solar panels, to keep costs down for the local working poor. Tulane University School of Architecture was in on the deal, designing the most energy efficient houses, while staying above possible future flood levels.

Wow, what a weird movie my husband and I saw today. Yowsa. If you would like to see the Palme d'Or film  winner at Cannes this year, like Terrence Malick, and like movies that combine:

a. Evoution

b. dinosaurs

c. National Geographic -type film of the solar system

e. church music

f.  another story about one's brother dying (see, "Prince of Tides")

g. Brad Pitt being a mean dad

h. Sean Penn pouting about having a mean dad

i.  no plot

j. were once a philopsophy major, astrophysicist, creationist, evolution aficionado or cinematography lover

k. creation/Genesis chapter of the Bible

l.  picture heaven as a beach

New Orleans, Chapter Two: Me and Brad Pitt

Dear Imaginary Friends,
Once upon a time, in 2005, there was a terrible hurricane that ravaged New Orleans, as well as Mississippi. The infamous Katrina wreaked destruction through a wide swath of the Gulf South...
The largest area of devastation in New Orleans lay in the Lower Ninth Ward, where houses were thrown helter skelter by the waters that burst through a levee.
The good news is, this area is back! Thanks to everybody's favorite dude, Brad Pitt, there are new affordable, unfloodable homes, built stylishly.
How could anyone that glam be that nice? Not only that, but he and Angelina and their cute brood own a home in New Orleans' French Quarter, which is so totally happening and hip.
My next posts will include more of his affordable housing. Plus one ghost of a former house, so that you can see the before as well as the after.
