St. Barth's: So OOh La La!

Dear Imaginary Friends,
Bonjour, mes amis!  A little bit of Caribbean paradise plus a little bit of France- away-from-France= St. Barth's in the Eastern Caribbean. But brace yourself for a very costly time there.

This island with the famously death-defying airport strip adjacent to a well-used beach is a wealthy enclave of $30 million yachts and lovely vacation homes for the beautiful people. St. Barth was the setting for the airport landing scene in the Thomas Crown Affair, a popular movie. The pictures below tell the story far better than words.
(All photos by S. Un. )
If you have a lot of cash and want a safe relaxing vacation, this is the place to go! The beaches are quite gorgeous. And the French accents are music to my ear.
Although there are few hotels, the Eden Roc is on the lovely beach of St. Jean.

Belle Haven Homes Tour

Every other year, Belle Haven Women's Club sponsors a tour of neighborhood homes, and this year proved to be stunning. See above flower arrangement in a chambered nautilus. This was created by the very talented Mary Ann Conant. The home was the guest house/pool house modeled after homes in Mustique, the fabulous Caribbean island populated by the very wealthy and the very famous. (Think Mick Jagger) The home was part beach house and one hundred percent divine, and reflects the owners' many happy memories from their many vacations there.
Of course, this was only one tiny part of the tour.
Kudos to the BH Women's Club and to Ms Conant.

Your homes tour junkie,
Patsie

Masterpiece du Jour ;)

Unfinished, 10 x 8", Oil
Dear Imaginary Readers,

Here is my newest "Masterpiece." I painted this last Monday, and tomorrow I am hoping to finish it.
And then I will probably spend forever refinishing it!
It has been fun to paint boats. These are on Solomon's Island, Maryland.

The Gentleperson's Sport of Croquet

Deni and Virginia Show How to Fashionably Hold Your Mallet
                                                                                                    DEra Imaginary Reader,

I believe that there would be fewer world wars if everyone would take up the slow paced game of croquet.
Not only can everyone play, but one can wear elegant clothing while doing so, and act highly civilized. (See above) As civilized as scones and tea. As civilized as your grandmother's silver flatware service.
Let's put away the violent video games like "Kill My Granny" and "Deathtrap on Cannibal Island". I encourage you to go outside on your front lawn this minute, and wear your Sunday finest while taking a leisurely game in. What was that you said? It is midnight? Well, then, that will winnow out the competition, and noone will witness your bad shots.
Think happy thoughts, and get some fresh air.
Channel your road rage into whacking that wooden ball so hard it flies through the hoop. ALL while looking your very best!
Cheerio,
Your Imaginary Friend,
Patsie
