Marie Antoinette at Woolly Mammoth Theater

Those who are looking for adventurous, modern theater, can find that and more at Woolly Mammoth in Washington, DC.
Woolly's current production of Marie Antoinette stretches one's expectations with non-traditional casting, modern garb, a sheep in wolf's clothing, and a loose interpretation of history.
Audience participation includes posing in a guillotine, and  playing beanbag toss with decapitated Barbies and Kens. I would have enjoyed a slice of cake, instead!!

Patsie

Betty's in York, England

Tea Time at Betty's
There is only one destination to remember when taking tea in York, England: Betty's. A bustling business, Betty's also serves up the finest Eton Mess that you will ever find.

An Iced Tea and an Eton Mess

York is the source of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde: An actual York doctor was suspected of murdering by night, and healing by day. I wonder if Dr. Jekyll ever ate at Betty's?

Alexandria Freedmen's Cemetery Memorial

When the Woodrow Wilson Bridge over the Potomac River was expanded, an old office building and a Mobil station were demolished and excavated. Surprisingly,  a cemetary lay beneath, abandoned before 1900. Freed slaves and people of color were buried there after the civil war. Many were children who died in the first seven days of life.
The dead are now honored properly with a lovely sculpture and the names of the dead, their cause of death, and age of death, which were gleaned from old city records.
This memorial is at the corner of South Washington Street and Green Street, in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia.

Kennebunkport, Walker's Point, and George H. W. Bush

Walker's Point, below
The Bush Compound, Above
On Ocean Avenue
In Kennebunkport

Dear Imaginary Friends and presidential peepers,

Being in the general area, we drove from Portland, Maine, south toward Kennebunkport. I was looking for a little glitz and glamor, knowing the Bush compound was there on Walker's Point.

The town is friendly and very casual. The main evidence of wealth is the size of the beautiful homes on Ocean Avenue. The Yacht Club is also somewhat swanky. The Bush home is large but extremely unpretentious. There is a guard house and the guard is looking at you, as if to say, keep moving! Scram!

Red's in Wiscasset

Dear Imaginary Friends,
A famous and popular lobster roll destination in Southeast Maine is a simple shack called Red's, where tourists stand in long lines to partake of the largest lobster rolls anywhere. The location is the northernmost point of Wicasset.
Another popular spot for lobster rolls comes with scenery: the Lobster Shack at Cape Elizabeth, next to the Portland Headlight (Lighthouse.)
But actually, I liked the lobster rolls at Andy's Pub in Portland and Allison's Restaurant in Kennebunkport. You decide!:)
