Dear Imaginary Friends,

Do you like a deal? Do you like games of chance? Then you should toodle on down to the Art League in Alexandria, VA, tomorrow bright and early, for a $175 ticket, which will buy you a piece of original art.

If you must still be in your pj's, so be it.

The names are called at random, so one does not know if one will be picked first (lucky devil) or last (Don't worry; those people win free dinners, hotel rooms, etc.)

SO what do you have to lose? The earlier you line up in front of the Torpedo Factory main doors, the better. Doors open around 9 am, and the tickets go really fast.

Last Week with Teresa Oaxaca

The Artist with her Self-Portrait

Dear Imaginary Readers,

What a highly original creative artist! Teresa, a member of the Art League in Alexandria,  is show here with her fanciful self-portrait, cum blond wig, a la French Revolution era. The interesting part is that she enjoys wearing costumes daily, and has a beautiful collection of dresses that are quite adorable on her.

I think this self portrait is quite beautiful. Now, let me eat cake.

Here is a photo of a painting compadre at the Art League named Teresa Oaxaca. She is amazingly talented, and painted the two copies of famous artists that you see behind her. Talent: it is an amazing gift. It falls into the laps of the fortunate.

What Remains to be Seen

Pictured above is the new painting I am showing right now at this very minute at the Art League Gallery. It is called "Lewes, Delaware."

It is for sale for a paltry price, and will be on display through May 7. The title of this particular show is Remains.  Remains, as a theme, refers to the end of something or what is left. In this case, what remains is the remains of the day: when the sun dips down to oblivion and casts magic colors across the landscape. I love dramatic lighting, whether it is cast across a body of water or a building.

My cute little oil is 12 x 12". It is available for adoption to a nice home. Yes, it is housebroken and never bites.

Since my article came out in elan, I have been selling my paintings at a fast clip. I sold a large one, a waterscape, too,  today to my lovely friend from Hillsboro, North Carolina. She used to live a bout six blocks from the site of the painting, and so it has special meaning for her, and good memories of living near the GW Parkway. That painting went to a happy home, and I just love it when that happens.

The Warehouse: a foodie destination on King Street

If you visit Old Town, Alexandria, VA, please give your taste buds a treat, and head to The Warehouse on King Street. Yum. Their she crab soup is a must-have. I have never tasted better, and believe me, I have done my research into this important matter.
I have, because of my due diligence, become a regular. My picture, in caricature form, now graces the stairway, among other foodie luminaries, such as Katie Couric. Apparently, she knows her crab soup, too.

PS The Warehouse is conveniently located on King Street, 2 blocks West of The Art League in The Torpedo Factory, a visual taste treat. The Art League Gallery is on the first floor, and a staple of great art at affordable prices. The building is the number one tourist destination in Alexandria, and situated right on the Potomac River.
